Health and Community Studies

This well established course has just been up dated. It is designed to meet the needs of those who want to work in community health related areas.

Contemporary society is increasingly health-conscious and with the development of diverse health related community projects, employers welcome graduates with the knowledge and skills to support and develop individual and community health agendas. The course provides the opportunity to analyse the concept of health and the factors that affect health and well-being from a variety of perspectives.

The multi-disciplinary approach draws from academic disciplines such as sociology, psychology and politics and reinforces the understanding of diversity. Issues related to community health and well-being are explored at individual, group and national level. The program explores the contemporary issues of evidence, research, partnership, collaboration and teamwork. In addition to the essential subject theory the course provides a challenging yet supportive environment for personal development and the development of essential skills valued by employers.
